Last Minute NYE Outfit Ideas

Hello!! Hope you all had an amazing Xmas!:) I can't believe how fast the holidays are going by, and that tonight is already NYE!:D Ahh I am SO excited to celebrate with my friends tonight, and look back on how incredible 2014 was! I hope it was a fantastic year for you too!

Alright, let's talk fashion now! I finally completed my outfit as of a few days ago, and will be sharing it on my Instagram tonight, so stay tuned! Do you know what you will be wearing tonight?! NYE can be stressful, but planning your outfit shouldn't be! If it really is, just pretend it's a regular Friday night out and dress how you would then:) You don't have to be wearing a sequin dress to be festive! You can wear your favourite LBD and just bling it up with some accessories! If dresses aren't your thing, have some fun with pleather pants or even a jumpsuit, to stand out from the crowd! For colour, you really can't go wrong with black, whites/ nudes and deep reds! You can always add texture like a metallic belt or clutch to spice up your look as well! Hopefully these last minute ideas will spark some inspiration! Hope you all have a safe and fabulous night, and I'll talk to you next year!;)

Merry Christmas!

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!! I hope you all had a wonderful day with your family and loved ones!:) Today I went for a walk along the beach with my family who came over from Van, feasted on ham (my absolute fav!!), played charades, walked around the block to see the Xmas lights and now going to watch Xmas movies for the rest of the evening! What is your tradition every Christmas?:) PS: I didn't bother doing a photo shoot for my outfit, as I just wore black leggings and a big sweater so I could eat all the food ;)

The candle lit here (and that has been lit every night for the past couple weeks at my home), is called "Leaves" by Bath&Body Works...oh my goodness it smells absolutely amazing!! I definitely recommend it! Maybe pick one up tomorrow for Boxing Day?:D Happy shopping, and talk to you in my next post!!xo

How to: Choose the Right Necklace for Different Necklines

A little while ago, I had a request from one of my readers to do a post on how to accessorize! It inspired me to put together this post, which is my take on how to pair the best necklace for different necklines! Whether it be a top or dress, there are so many different styles of necklines out there, but today I will share with you my top 6, and which style of necklace I think looks best with each! You can dress up a simple top, or make a fabulous outfit pop even more with the perfect necklace! So let's get started!!:D

6 Common Necklines:

1. Crew Neck

For a crew neck, I think a shorter necklace that sits at the rim of the neckline is very flattering! Go for a necklace that has detailing throughout it (like below) instead of a pendant style necklace.

OOTN: Bars & Long Sweater Dresses

Hello everyone! So last Saturday I wore this outfit to the bar, and I thought I would do a quick outfit of the night (ootn) post! Since it was a more casual night, I left my 5 inch heels at home and went for an ankle boot. Plus it's been a little cold here in Victoria lately (brr I'm a baby), my toes would not have been very happy in heels! For my outfit, I adore the look of a long sweater dress that comes down past the knees. It is very form fitting and comfortable, I think these types of dresses are perfect for still looking chic and stylish during the winter season! What do you think?! To finish, I paired it with a leather jacket to give it an edgier look. I feel they are appropriate to still wear inside, and if it gets warm, take it off:) I plan on wearing this look to work soon, but instead of this jacket, I am going to wear it with a cropped black blazer, as I think it'll be more fitting for day time! PS: I wore a peacoat over top to keep me warm! ;)

Next time you come across a long sweater dress, give it a try! Maybe you can put together your version of an outfit with it to hit up a pub (or pubs) in, where you will be looking super fab!!

3 Ways to Accessorize with Leopard Print on 'Mint To Inspire'

Hi everyone! So back in September when I was volunteering at Vancouver Fashion Week, I made a new friend, Rachel :) Rachel is a fashion blogger herself, and is one of five girls that writes for the blog, Mint to Inspire, a lifestyle, beauty and fashion blog. I have collaborated with this Vancouver-based blog and have written a post on...wait for it...LEOPARD PRINT!:) I have shared 3 ways to incorporate my favourite print into your next look this season! You can't miss it!! Hop onto MINT TO INSPIRE and see the full blog post there!

Sneak Peak:

1. SCARVES: Casual

Scarves are my favourite! They can pull a simple outfit together, making you look stylish while keeping you warm! In the fall and winter, pair your outfit in darker shades of leopard like browns and greys, then switch to lighter shades for spring! Already have a scarf in the typical leopard tone? Next time try shopping for a unique coloured one like the green one from Dynamite below!

Soft Blazers & Blue Skies

Hey everyone hope you're all doing well! So a little update with my life, I recently started working for Dynamite's management team at their Bay Centre location in Victoria! I am really enjoying it so far..everything from styling customers and helping them find the perfect outfit; to learning how to successfully manage a clothing store and coach others; and to applying business strategies of this Montreal-based international company. I love the people I work with and everyday is exciting!

Dynamite has always been one of my favourite stores to shop at, and this year this Canadian company is celebrating their 30th anniversary. Their Fall 2014 collection is absolutely gorgeous with lots of faux leather, burgundies and stylish blazers. Dynamite is the place to go to find an outfit that can take you from work to a night out, as well as keep you looking chic on the weekends! On November 15th, they will be opening their new location in Uptown, combining their store with Garage. If you are interested in working as a sales associate or manager, drop off your resume at the Bay Centre or Mayfair location or apply online at Dynamite.ca (look for upcoming posting soon). Definitely check out their new store once it opens! Also come visit me downtown if you're looking for a new outfit or need some style advice! I'll be more than happy to help! :D

Now for todays outfit! I am in LOVE with this soft blazer, I couldn't help myself from getting it in 2 other colours (black and blue). If there is one thing you need to add to your wardrobe this season its this! This "overpiece" looks like a blazer but is much more comfortable as the material is light and stretchy, giving your arms a lot more flexibility! (Plus they have pockets.. bonus!) It's so easy to throw on, you can simply dress it up or down taking you from professional to casual. I love the colour combo with this gorgeous blouse. The sheer touch down the middle is very delicate and feminine. It's such a versatile top that can instantly add more class to an outfit. The leggings are really well made and have a thick elastic band on each side which cinches you in nicely around the waist. They are mid-rise, and have a line down the front and back giving a slimming look. Paired with some black heels or flats, you can wear this look straight from your office to a night out for dinner or drinks! If leggings are too casual for your work place, switch to a classic business pant in the cut of your choice! :) Hope you enjoyed todays post and thanks again for reading!xo

OOTD: Shopping in Black & White

On Sunday I spent the day shopping and eating noodle box at Uptown with my mom and sister :) When I go shopping I love wearing clothes that are comfy and easy to take on and off for when I am in the change rooms. My Lululemon Wunder Under leggings are my go-to for this! Definitely a fall/winter must-have for any girl! As you can see, I am wearing no jewelry because I find it can get in the way! (I save the bling for when I go window shopping ;)) Since I'm skipping the accessories I wanted to make sure my outfit still had some "fun" to it, so I went for a graphic T and a mesh striped overpiece from Growze La. I got this while I was back in Japan, and fell in love with the vertical stripes immediately! I have yet to come across something similar, but the closest I came was a top from Nasty Gal (check the end of the post)! Thanks for reading and until next time!xo

Power of a Nude Heel

The nude heel is a classic, and a perfect shoe that can be paired with almost everything! Not to mention it elongates your legs and is very flattering! I'm wearing mid-rise boyfriend jeans and a loose top off the shoulder (I think its subtly sexy). This outfit is so effortless, I would usually wear it with converse for a casual look, but the heel transforms the outfit to class! Roll up the bottom of your jeans and make sure they are a little baggy to achieve this look. Totally appropriate for a lunch date! For dinner, go for a darker denim and throw on a blazer and you'll be looking fab!!

Fall Calls For Plaid

Fall is by far my favourite season when it comes to fashion! Scarves, high socks, boots, warm sweaters..do I have to keep going? ;) And of course you cannot forget plaid, which screams fall and is such an essential for your closet! Today's outfit is super casual, perfect for school or running errands in. I love the look of "not wearing" your shirt by tying it around your waist (plus if you get cold you can just throw it on). Remember back in the day when that was the cool thing to do? I think its back because I've seen it a lot lately! :) Pull out your favourite plaid shirts and try twisting this look into your own style! Until next time! xo

Work to Happy Hour in Polka Dots

For those of you ladies that are currently working that 9-to-5 this post is for you! Sometimes after work you meet your girls for dinner or go for drinks with your co-workers, and you don’t have the time to go home and get ready. Today, I'll show you how to transform your outfit from work to happy hour!

Outfit #1: Work

If you're looking for a clean, simple and classic look for work, you can't ever go wrong with black and white. To add a little something to the outfit, I went for this cute polka dot blouse. I let it be the "centre of attention" and stuck to a black pencil skirt and comfy wedges. Sheer blouses are a MUST in any wardrobe, because they literally can be worn to work, casually tucked into jeans, and as you'll see in Outfit #2 loosely worn for the evening!

For makeup and hair I kept it very simple. Black winged liner on the top with a nude lip. Then for hair, I just took two strands from the front and pinned it at the back of my head, criss-crossing the bobby pins. It keeps the hair out of my face..plus it looks like I tried a little ;)

Vancouver Fashion Week S/S 2015

A few days ago I returned home from Vancouver, as I was volunteering at Vancouver Fashion Week Spring/ Summer 2015! It was an amazing (and truthfully, very exhausting) week where I made some wonderful new friends from around the globe, as well as some incredible memories. I was constantly inspired by the designers and their collections, as well as by the stylish people in the audience. Now, all I want to wear is black lipstick and a fur vest everyday!!

So you're probably now wondering what I actually did at VFW. I was extremely lucky to work closely with 3 very talented Japanese designers, Shinya Yamaguchi, Daiki Shimizu and Akira Kuwabara. I assisted the designers with model fittings, dress rehearsals, runway shows and collection exhibitions. I also provided interpretation for all of their interviews with several media. When I wasn't helping with the Japanese designers, I was working backstage helping other designers and models with their fittings and shows. I was able to sit and watch a few shows one day, which I was very happy about! After a long day's work, the other assistants and I attended the after parties joining the rest of the fashion week crew! I barely slept the whole week but it was so worth it! It was such an amazing experience, and now I want to attend more fashion weeks across the world..next stop NY? London? Paris? Milan? Tokyo? ;)

Below I've shared with you some of my favourite looks from the Japanese designers' SS15 collection. First, let's meet them!

Tropicana

My last run to F21 I picked up these adorable shorts and have been dying to blog about them! They are wrap shorts- the material slings in the front and is tied (whatever style you like) to one side, making it partially look like a skirt! I have never seen shorts quite like this! Have you?? The print and colours are what initially caught my eye, it screams summer and reminds me of a vacation! :) I would rock this outfit more for a night look, but paired with sandals and less jewelry would be perfect for a hot summer day! Also, if crop tops aren’t your thing, a simple white V-neck T would look great! PS: Excuse the hair blowing everywhere, it was a little windy! Thanks for reading! ♡

OOTD: Coffee Date

Hey everyone! First off, I know I have been MIA for the longest time -graduating Uni, family reunions and festivities- but I promise I am back with lots of more posts :) Tonights look is a super quick outfit of the day. Yesterday my sister and I grabbed a Starbucks (green tea fraps are my go-to for summer) and hung out in the sun and this is what I threw on. It's featuring my favourite top and bag at the moment! Plus heather grey and cream are one of my all time favourite colour combos!

I'm wearing Saint Germain by Mac on my lips to go with the barbie theme, and my hair took me literally 20 seconds! Just throw over to one side and braid with a few strands loose around your face :) Hope you're all enjoying the sunshine too, until next time!xo

Kim K Inspired Maxi Look

Happy Sunday everyone! The other day I was on Pinterest and came across an outfit by Kim K, and it inspired me to put together this look! I love maxis for summer, they are so easy and simple you can't go wrong! I've been seeing the striped dress trend a lot lately too :) Dress it down with sandals for a day of shopping, then for night switch to some fun stylish heels! My wedges are from Tokyo (gosh I miss that place- especially the shoes!;)

Cutting Edge Looks to Rock This Summer

Need to add a little kick to your style this summer? You're in luck! Today I have for you 2 separate outfit ideas you can wear (with a dark lip) to rock the subtle edgy look. To find pieces to achieve this kind of look is Reunion Boutique, formerly known as Rebel Rebel. It is a popular urban chic boutique with brands from LA, NY, Sweden and Italy! With a wide range of styles there's literally a little bit of everything for everyone!;) Their feminine and edgy pieces is what attracts me into their store over and over again!

Outfit #1: Leather & Leopard

I love everything about this first outfit!! The top is a faux leather crop top, that I can promise will go with so many things in your closet! Very versatile! The shorts are leopard print..I don't think I need to expand any more;) The cut of both pieces are so unique and I am a huge fan of them together! I love mixing different textures and prints in an outfit. It adds so much personality to the look, I definitely encourage you to give it a try too! Finally, the necklace is very simple but it's what pulls the outfit together! (Never forget your accessories ladies!)

May Favourites

Holy I cannot believe that it's already June! First off, I know I did not do an April Favourites post, I apologize I was a little too busy. For the month of May I started to run out of a few of my products so I hit the drugstore to pick up some new makeup!

How to: Dress up your Crop Top

The crop top. I could go on for ages about how much I love them for summer and all the many ways to wear them! Today, I will show you one of my versions of dressing them up. To start, grab your favourite crop top, (mine is from Growze Los Angeles) and pair it with a high waisted harem pant- patterned or solid colour works! Harem pants are so stylish and comfy, I love how they can be dressed up giving you that classy look, especially if they are leopard print- not being biased, I swear ;) Fancy sandals would look great with this look too if you aren't into wearing heels all day or night. Don't forget to throw on a bold lip and some fashionable shades! I'm wearing Russian Red by Mac, and my sunglasses are by Emoda. I am in love with the subtle cat-look and rimless bottoms..more like obsessed! Of course, don't forget your accessories to complete the outfit. I think this look will be perfect for those summer nights out for drinks on the patio! Trust me, all eyes will be on you ;)

Memoirs of a Geisha

Hey everyone, hope you had an amazing weekend and Mother's Day! Sorry it's been a while since my last post. I've been crazy busy with leaving Japan and getting settled back in Canada and school!

Today's post is a little special as I am wearing a traditional Japanese kimono. During my last weekend in Kyoto I got dressed up in this beautiful attire and walked the streets of Gion and Yasaka Jinja, a Shinto shrine. Gion is one of the most famous Geisha districts in all of Japan. If you are really lucky, you will see the Geisha, also called Geiko, at night going to work dressed elegantly with make up and hair done perfectly! There are so many things about kimonos I can talk about so I will just share with you a portion of what I know!

Paris

Today's post is a combination of my favourites right now: black, white, prints and denim! Denim is everywhere this season like I mentioned already and with all the shopping I've been doing lately I think I have bought enough denim to last my obsession for a little while! I think this jacket dresses down the outfit just right for more of a day time look, yet switching to a loose blazer would be perfect for night! I love how day or night girls in Japan get dressed up and wear sky high heels! I guess theres nothing really stopping me from when I return back to Canada:)

Sakura

Sakura (桜) meaning Cherry Blossoms in Japanese have been blooming all over Japan these past couple of weeks. They are so beautiful and ever since I arrived to Kyoto I have been waiting patiently to see the city covered in pink! So lucky I was able to get this shoot in as these flowers only bloom for a short 2 weeks!

I was inspired to put together this look because I have grown to really love the Japanese "cute" or kawaii style. Majority of girls here dress in this way with flowy skirts and pairing girly socks with heels or booties. This sock trend is very big here and although at first I thought it was a little strange I have now become quite fond of it! It's so sweet and adorable:) Sometimes you just need to give that 'unusual' trend a chance and who knows maybe you'll end up loving it;)

Stylish Sweats

I have about 3 weeks left in Kyoto before I head back to Canada. Oh how time flies! My journey in Japan has been the most amazing 7 months of my life!! As much as I don't want to return home and I want to stay here I know that another chapter of my life is about to start, and for that I am excited to hop on the next train to my new adventure!

Okay so let's talk fashion now! I wanted to focus today's post on my sweatpants from Zara. These casual fashionable sweats were a huge trend last fall. I had my eye on these specific ones when they first came out and I finally caved and bought them at the beginning of this year. I love these ones as from the front they are grey but the back is all black. I went to Zara yesterday and it looks like sweats will be in style this spring as well:) They are so comfy yet fashionable and can be dressed up or down. I've seen tons of looks where they have been paired with heels- something I will definitely be giving a try once I go home to 90% of my wardrobe!;)

March Favourites

Hope all of you had a great March! Last month I traveled to Osaka, Nagoya and Kobe on the weekends to visit friends, sightsee and of course do some shopping! It was a crazy busy month so during the week I wore very light makeup and saved getting dolled up for the weekends! Here are a few of my favourites for the month.

Top 3 Make-up Products

I have to admit I have an obsession with buying and trying new make up, but there have always been a few products that I will continue to buy over and over again. Today I will share with you my Top 3!

Nijo Castle

I recently went to Nijo Castle, a very famous sightseeing attraction in Kyoto with a friend. We were goofing around taking pictures which then turned into a mini photo shoot, so this post was super un-planned and therefore so was my outfit! The leggings and jacket are a new purchase, and it was the first time I wore them out. These types of denim jackets are super in this season in Japan, especially in this colour and length. Usually I like my jackets a little longer, but this one is really growing on me and I am loving the stitching down the sleeves as well as how light weight it is! Also, printed leggings are a great choice for when you want to bring a little fun to your outfit-perfect for casual weekend wear!

Blazer Up

Ever since my internship started in January, I have been practically living in business casual attire. So I thought I would share with you a typical look you can also wear to the office! It's professional yet slightly girly with all the accessories. Of course depending on you're work place you can play around with these!

What makes this outfit pop is this gorgeous blue blazer! Also, this is my favourite colour of blue and is ideal for the spring time. I went shopping the other day to check out the spring trends and it looks like blue, mint, yellow and pink are this season's trends in Japan:) So ladies go into your closets I'm sure you have a coloured blazer (if not, excuse to go buy a new one hey?) and you'll be able to style up so many outfits! Trust me a well-fitted blazer will never let you down ;)

February Favourites

I've been experimenting a lot with make up this month so it was a little difficult to decide which products to feature on today's post, but here are a few of my favourites for February!

Style to Go

This outfit was another go to look during school for me last semester. Not only is it put together but it took me literally 2 mins to throw on. When it comes to getting ready in the morning we all want fast and easy. So let me tell you my super simple trick to getting you out the door a little quicker. The key is all black everything! Then throw on a printed scarf, coloured jacket and voila! Simple right? I am loving mine from Forever21, as the sleeves are faux leather and adds another texture to the outfit. Plus this olive colour is everywhere this season! Don't forget to have a few of these basic black pieces in your wardrobe to make your life a little easier for those busy mornings!

Shibuya Crossing

Today's fashion post is a throw back to one of my favourite photo shoots I've done so far! It was a beautiful day around Christmas time in Shibuya, and these photos are taken in the middle of the famous Shibuya Crossing. Over a million people cross it every day making it the busiest intersection in the world!

My favourite item from this outfit are these leopard jeans from Harajuku. I have never been a huge jeans person, but if they are distressed or have a fun print to them..sold! Black, gold and leopard print is probably my all time favourite combo! It's classy, stylish and sexy all at the same time;)

I have been living in Kyoto for exactly a month now, and I can't believe how fast January flew by!  I know it's a little late but I thought I would do a quick "January Favourites" post, and have one every month from now on some of my favourite beauty products I'm loving! So let's jump straight to it!

How to: Dress in Winter

Today's fashion post is my first "How To" and I wanted to talk about how I wear my summer dresses throughout the winter. Since this dress was a new purchase a few weeks ago there was no way I was waiting until spring/summer! Ladies grab your favourite scarves and tights and you can put together so many looks! Knee high socks are always a good option too:) For the jacket I went for this denim one which is great for day time, plus I think light denim is adorable. Switch to a thicker blazer or trench coat and you're set for the night. To finish, put on some booties or tall boots and you're done! Mine are from Forever21, and I am absolutely loving this deep red colour for this season:)
Have fun wearing your summer dresses again! xo

All about 'My Hair'

When people ask me what I think my best feature is, it’s always been “my hair”. So I thought why not make a post about it. Firstly for a little background of my hair, it's very low maintenance, naturally quite straight, thick and I have a lot of it! I actually have never dyed my hair as I am pretty happy with my dark brown color and also because I'm afraid of damaging it. Although I would love to dye it one day for a new look!

Soft Leopard

Currently in Japan it is every student’s favourite time of year...exam time. So today's outfit post is an easy look I put together for hitting the library in. My go-to are leggings + UGGs when it comes to this-so comfy yet put together!

As I mentioned in one of my previous posts scarves are a must for me in the winter time. This one from ‘Heather’ has got to be my favourite at the moment (not just because it’s leopard print) but because a.) it is so incredibly warm b.) it matches my boots and c.) well yes...it’s leopard print. I am extremely picky when it comes to this fabulous print and finding a lighter tone is actually quite rare. I love this one as it gives off more of a softer look and a completely different vibe! Finally instead of just wearing studs, to switch it up I am wearing these gorgeous hoop earrings from Paris I got as a present from one of my best friends!:)

Happy studying everyone! xo

Lashes Lashes Lashes

If you love lashes you will love Japan! Girls here wear them 24/7 as they enjoy getting dolled up. They have soo much selection here I always find myself looking at racks and racks of them deciding which ones to pick. I am constantly going for 'volume' ones as they make my eye make up pop even more. I have gotten in the habit of wearing them on weekends when I go run errands or do some shopping! Wearing them to school is completely normal as I also did this numerous times as well. Why wait till Friday night right? ;)
